About Badges

What is badging?

A digital badge is a representation of an accomplishment, such as building a new skill, knowledge competency, attendance, participation, project completion, or a professional credential.

Each badge is made up of an image and evidence/information about the achievement. It also tells you what person or organization recognized the achievement.

Earning digital badges is a way for working professionals to document their professional development accomplishments.  Once a digital badge is earned, you can put your digital badges on web sites, resumes, and portfolios for others to see your accomplishments.

How does badging works for the MCN Pro Workshop Series?

The MCN Pro Workshop Series will award digital badges for each workshop. These badges will be awarded to document accomplishments for:

in a workshop

Presentation and
subject matter expertise

LearningTimes, LLC and Museums Computer Network are partnering with Credly to design and award digital badges during the Workshop Series.

How can I view and track my badges?

Once you have met the criteria for a badge, you will receive an e-mail, at the e-mail address you provided when you registered for a MCN Pro Workshop, letting you know the badge has been awarded to you.

The e-mail will be sent from our partner Credly and provide a link for you to review and accept the badge. You will be prompted to set up a Credly account if you do not already have one. Once logged into your account, you will be able to view the badge, accept it, and display it on any of your social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. (Note: The term “credit” used in Credly communications is the same as “badge.”)

How do I get my participant badge if I am part of a group?

If you are participating in a MCN Pro Workshop as part of a group, and you were not the person who registered for your organization, make sure to remind your group leader to provide MCN with a list of all those who attended a MCN Pro Workshop so they can receive their badge. We just need your full name and email information to MCNPro@mcn.edu.

Who can I ask if I have questions about the badges?

Email MCNPro@credly.com or visit http://support.credly.com for any questions you may have about your badges, technical assistance or help navigating the Credly badge issuing, storing and displaying environment.
